Privacy policy
This policy explains how Mary Care Group Ltd handles personal data when you use the Mary app, Mary Companion, Mary Care TV and the Mary Portal.
The Mary app can be used without linking it to a Mary account. When unlinked, it does not sync personal data with Mary Care’s servers, although individual features may use clearly identified third-party services. If the app is linked to a family account, it securely syncs the information described below with the Mary Portal so authorised caregivers can set up and support the device.
Mary Companion and Mary Care TV provide additional features for the same family account. The sections below explain what information each app uses and why.

What data the app collects
When a device is linked to a family account, Mary sends the following to Mary Care’s servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so caregivers can manage and support the device through the Mary Portal:
- Device identifier: the Android device ID, used to link this specific device to its care account and keep it in sync.
- Location: approximate and precise location, including in the background where enabled, so trusted caregivers can confirm the care recipient is safe and receive geofence (safe-zone) alerts. Location sharing is enabled on a consent basis.
- Contacts: names, phone numbers and assigned photos of contacts on the device, so caregivers can choose who appears on the home screen and who is called or messaged for help.
- Name and phone number: the care recipient’s name and device number.
- Installed apps: the list of apps on the device, so caregivers can choose which apps appear in Mary’s simplified launcher.
- Call information: numbers, names and timing of calls made or received in Mary, so caregivers can support the person’s calling.
- Crash logs and diagnostics: technical error reports and app version information, used only to fix problems and keep the app working.
The Mary Companion app (for caregivers)
Mary Companion is the caregiver’s phone app for the same account. Caregivers sign in with the Mary account provided when they join a family’s care team, and use it to set up and support the linked device through the Mary Portal. Through this app we collect:
- Account information: the caregiver’s name and email address, used to sign in and identify who is on the care team. Sign-in happens through the Mary Portal (including Google or Apple sign-in where offered).
- Care details you enter: the contacts (names and phone numbers), reminders, and care notes a caregiver adds for the person they support. This is sent to Mary Care’s servers so it can appear on the linked device and to other caregivers on the team.
- Notification token: a device token used only to send the caregiver alerts about the person they support (for example, an SOS or a safe-zone alert).
The person’s status, location, calls and activity shown in the caregiver app are collected by their own linked device (described above) and shown to trusted caregivers, the caregiver app displays this information but does not collect it from the caregiver’s phone. The caregiver app does not read the caregiver’s own location, contacts, photos, call history or messages.
The Mary Care TV app
Mary Care TV is an Android TV launcher that can be linked to the same family account. When linked, it sends the following to Mary Care’s servers over encrypted HTTPS or secure WebSocket connections:
- Device identifier: the Android device ID, used to link the television to the correct family account and deliver its layout.
- Installed-app information: package names, labels, icons and available channel options, so an authorised caregiver can choose what appears in the simplified TV launcher.
- Help and app interactions: Help requests and connection status, used to notify the authorised care team and keep the TV in sync.
- Remote-support screen images: if remote support is enabled in Android Accessibility settings, the TV sends small screenshots only while an authorised caregiver has an active support session. The caregiver can use that view to move the on-screen selection and open items. Only the latest frame is temporarily held in the encrypted database; it is overwritten by the next frame and deleted when the support session ends.
Remote support is optional. Before Android Accessibility settings are opened, the TV explains that screenshots and remote navigation will be used. The feature does not access the microphone or camera, and Android protects secure or DRM video surfaces from capture.
How your data is stored and used
This information is stored securely on Mary Care’s own servers, encrypted in transit, and is used only to provide the care and caregiver-portal features described above. It is kept while the device remains linked to an active account. You can request deletion at any time, see Deleting your data.

Third-party services
The home-screen weather widget fetches weather data from a public weather service using the device’s approximate location. No account or identifying information is sent with this request. Please refer to that provider’s privacy policy for full details.
Children’s privacy
Mary is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
